Scenic Los Angeles and San Diego On the Road

After spending the winter in Las Vegas we made our way to Los Angeles where we spent a week exploring the area and getting some work done. We loved walking through Santa Monica and Venice Beach and took long walks along the different beaches. LA is vegan heaven and we enjoyed some amazing plant-based meals at The Butcher’s Daughter, Cafe Gratitude, and Roeckenwagner Cafe.

We then made our way along the scenic highway to San Diego and did a couple of hikes with stunning views at Crystal Cove State Park and Torrey Pines State Reserve. San Diego was surprisingly easy for vanlife and we found that Fiesta Island is the perfect spot for boondocking on the water while still being close to the downtown area. We especially loved the waterfront, the colorful murals at Chicano Park and watching the sunset from the Sunset Cliffs.

We filled our bellies at the vegan-friendly restaurants Jyoti-Bihanga, Plant Power and World Curry and there are a plentitude of plant-based restaurants that we did not get a chance to try. Maybe next time, because San Diego is definitely on our list to visit again!
