Such a beautiful beach! We stayed at Anastasia State Park while visiting the historic city of St. Augustine and highly recommend this combination of culture and nature getaway. The state park is only 3.5 miles from downtown St. Augustine and includes four miles of pristine natural beach, hammock preserves and tidal salt marshes. The park offers nature trails, swimming, fishing, kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding with rental options for paddle boards, kayaks, surf boards, sailboats, bicycles, umbrellas and beach chairs. Beach parking is adjacent to a Island Joe’s Tropical Grill, a small restaurant offering breakfast and lunch. We visited in late October and were positively surprised to be able to enjoy the empty beach despite the warm temperatures.
The campground is nestled next to the beach and the camp sites are well maintained and provide much privacy as they are surrounded by hammock, palm trees and are divided into separate loops. the full-facility campground offers 139 campsites for tents and RVs with picnic tables, fire-pits, electric and water hook-up. The bathhouse with flush-toilets and showers are kept clean and there are even laundry machines available.
We loved our getaway and will definitely return next time we travel through the area!
